Abbotswood’s Breakfast
Club has been running for several years now and has proven
to be popular. Although
this is a Government initiative, originally relating to extended schools
provision, Abbotswood felt there was a real need to offer such a service
to its parents.
Funding was made available and Abbotswood was successful in securing
a grant. This funding has assisted in various ways, from
provision of crockery and cutlery to partially enabling the creation
of our Community Room, where the children enjoy their breakfast.
The current cost is: £1.80 per child per day, and the menu varies
each day with a choice of hot food, with cereals being available each day.
We are very fortunate to have established a relationship with our local
Asda store, which has provided us with breakfast cereal on many occasions
since our club began. We have also taken part in several of Asda’s
initiatives such as The Big Healthy Eat campaign. Click

Children are admitted at 8 a.m. each day for breakfast, and supervised
by two members of our support team, who in addition to providing
adult supervision, also entertain the children with various games
and initiatives, and on certain mornings, dance, and ball games
are also on the agenda, provided by such organisations as Saints
in the Community and Sportstars. Activities then finish at 8.50
a.m. ready for children to gather in the playground, when the school
day begins at 8.55 a.m.
At this moment, this initiative is only open to Abbotswood pupils, but
we hope to extend this invitation to children and parents of other schools
in the very near future, as the feedback from parents to date, has been
very positive.
If you are interested in booking your child in (either as an individual
or block booking), please contact the school office Details on
the Contact Us Page.
Please note bookings can only be made in advance (not on the day), together with payment.
